Q.1-How does Toto come to grandfather's private zoo?
Ans. Grandfather bought Toto from a tonga-driver. The tanga- driver kept the monkey tied to a feeding-trough. The monkey seemed out of place there so grandfather decided to put him in his private zoo.
Q.2- "Toto was a pretty monkey ?" In what sense is Toto pretty ?
Ans. The author calls Toto a pretty monkey because his eyes were bright and sparkling. His teeth were white like pearls. His fingers were quick. His tail added to his good looks.
Q.3- Why does grandfather take Toto to Saharanpur and how ?
Ans. Toto was a pretty monkey. He did not allow other pet animals to sleep at night. So author's grandfather had to take him along with him to Saharanpur when he went there to collect his pension. He was put into a bag. The ticket collector classified Toto as a dog because there was no special provision for monkey in the railways.
Q.4- How does Toto take a bath ? Where has he learnt to do this ? How does Toto almost boil himself alive.
Ans- Author's grandmother gave Toto a large bowl of warm water for bath. He would test the temperature with his hand. Then he stepped into the bath, first one foot and then other. He would rub himself all over with the soap. He learned it all from the author. A large kitchen kettle was on fire to boil tea. Totto removed its lead. He found the water warm and got into it. Soon water began to boil. He wanted to come out but he found it cold outside. He sat down again. He jumped up and down in the kettle. Then grandmother arrived and pulled him out. He was half burnt.
Q.5- why does the author say, " Toto was not the sort of pet we could keep for long ?
Ans. Author's grandfather bought Toto from Tanga driver. He wanted to keep him as a pet. He put him in his private zoo. But he he never became friendly with other animals. He was very mischievous. He kept on tearing and breaking things in the house. Author was not a rich man. So, he says this.

Ans. Author's grandfather bought Toto from a tonga-driver in five rupees. But Toto was very mischievous monkey. He kept on tearing and breaking the things in the house. Author's family was not rich. So, Toto was sold back to the tonga-driver in three rupees.
