TALKING ABOUT THE TEXT

DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS WITH YOUR PARTNER-

 1. What did you notice about the difference between the way in which the adults and the children reacted when faced with danger ? आपने बड़ों और बच्चों की प्रतिक्रियाओं में क्या अन्तर देखा जब उनका आमना - सामना खतरे से हुआ ? ?

Ans . Both adults and children behaved almost in the same manner when they faced danger . Adult members of the ship did not lose hope . They fought the sea for their survival . They did all their possible efforts to save themselves . Finally they succeeded . The children were not afraid . They thought that they were going to die . Jon said that they were not afraid of dying if they could all be together . The children got injuries but did not mention them to their parents .

2. How does the story suggest that optimism helps to “ endure the direst stress " ?  कहानी कैसे सुझाती है कि आशावादिता " खतरनाक से खतरनाक तनाव को सहन करने " में सहायता करती है ?

Ans . The story is about an adventure undertaken by a man and his family . The narrator , his wife and two children Jon and sue set out on a sea - voyage . During the journey they faced rough sea . Water flooded their ship . It got damaged . But they did not lose hope . They started to pump out the water with hand pumps and electric pump . Even children showed courage . They did not even mention their injuries to their parents . They all were optimistic . The result of their optimism was that they succeeded to land safely . Their struggle for survival won at last . Thus the story suggests that optimism helps to " endure the direst stress .

 3. What lessons do we learn from such hazardous experiences when we are face to face with death ? इस प्रकार के खतरनाक अनुभवों के द्वारा हम क्या सबक सीखते हैं जब हमारा आमना - सामना मौत से होता है ?

Ans . We learn a lot when we are face to face with death . It is said that human nature is best seen in a difficult time . We should be united and should not lose hope in the time of distress . We learn that when death is before us , we realise that there is a thin boundary between life and death . These experiences show that we can delude even death if we are optimistic . The story narrates such an experience . The narrator and his family faced danger . Death was before them . But all fought together and won at last .

4. Why do you think people undertake such adventurous expeditions in spite of the risks involved ? आपके विचार से लोग इस प्रकार के साहसिक कामों को हाथ में लेते हैं बावजूद इसके कि इनमें खतरे शामिल होते हैं ?

Ans . Man is adventure loving by nature . People climb on mountain peaks , undertake voyage around the world by sea and explore the dangerous forests . Mystery always attracts people .
